Role Overview
The Live Events General Manager will be responsible for building and leading LSC’c new live events business unit from the ground up. This role will oversee strategy, operations, P&L ownership, and execution for a portfolio of conferences and events serving the life sciences sector. The ideal candidate is both entrepreneurial and operationally disciplined, with a proven track record of scaling B2B events and building high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Vision
- Define and execute the overarching events strategy aligned with organizational goals (scientific, commercial, and reputational).
- Identify market opportunities within the life sciences sector and design event formats that align with customer needs that best fit LSC’s current community footprint.
- Define KPIs and success metrics to measure event performance and growth.
- Act as a thought leader in event innovation, ensuring relevance and differentiation in a competitive life sciences landscape.
- Event Portfolio Development
- Oversee concept creation, agenda development, and speaker recruitment in partnership with subject matter experts in each of LSC’s communities.
- Establish annual calendar of events, including flagship conferences, niche summits, and potential regional forums.
- Ensure events are differentiated, valuable, and aligned with Life Science Connect’s brand, mission, and each communities’ editorial “causes and themes.”
- Revenue & Partnerships
- Own P&L responsibility for the events division.
- Drive revenue through sponsorships, booth sales, attendee ticket sales, strategic partnerships, and other appropriate scalable opportunities as they present themselves.
- Develop an internal sales function that collaborates with LSC’s existing sales teams to sell event opportunities to Life Science Connect’s existing clients.
- Operations & Execution
- Build and manage a team covering event production, operations, sales, and marketing.
- Oversee vendor selection, contracts, and venue logistics to ensure smooth execution.
- Implement best practices for risk management, budgeting, and compliance.
- Leadership & Team Building
- Recruit, coach, and mentor a high-performing events team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer focus.
- Partner with internal departments (Editorial, Marketing, Sales, Technology) to integrate events with digital platforms.
- 10+ years of experience in B2B events, conferences, or exhibitions, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or P&L role.
- Demonstrated success launching and scaling new event portfolios.
- Deep understanding of event business models, including sponsorship, delegate sales, and content-driven formats.
- Strong network in the life sciences or healthcare sector preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
